Lata 90. Running Wild, legendarni niemieccy pionierzy power metalu i piewcy piractwa, niezmiennie pod komendą Rolfa Kasparka, rozpoczęli dwoma znakomitymi albumami. Drugi z nich, "Pile Of Skulls" z 1992 roku, ukazuje się ponownie. Zespół powrócił tu do tak lubianych przez fanów klimatów pirackich, do tego w wielkim stylu. Aczkolwiek w tekstach znalazło się miejsce na opisy tyranii, korupcji i nadużycia władzy na przestrzeni dziejów. Jest tu, chociażby utwór oparty na "Wyspie skarbów" Roberta Louisa Stevensona.
