Pierwsza płyta dla ECM New Series Momo Kodamy to hipnotyczna podróż wiodąca od migotliwych płaszczyzn Miroirs, przez cykl fortepianowy Ravela z lat 1904-45 do Fauvette des jardins Oliviera Messiaena (z 1970), późnego arcydzieła muzyki fortepianowej autorstwa tego kompozytora-wizjonera. Spojrzenie Kodamy na światy dźwiękowe Messiaena jest pokrewne względem postawy etyczno-estetycznej tego kompozytora. Podobnie jak on postrzega naturę na sposób religijny, śpiew ptaków odbiera jako duchową radość, doświadczaną poprzez figury fortepianowe. Wymienione kompozycje uzupełnia Rain Tree Sketches Toru Takemitsu (1982), muzyka Wschodu wzbogacona wpływem zachodniego eksperymentalizmu. „Początkowe takty” – pisze Hans-Klaus Jungheinrich w tekście dołączonym do płyty – „ewokują nie tylko progresje akordowe Messiaena, ale też przywołują wytworność muzyki Ravela”.
