Trzeci album Tima Berne'a dla wytwórni ECM „You’ve Been Watching Me”, ukazuje tego kompozytora i saksofonistę ponownie dynamicznie prowadzącego nowojorski zespół Snakeoil, ale tym razem rozszerzony z kwartetu do kwintetu, dzięki przybyciu gitarzysty Ryana Ferreiry, którego brzmienie jest szczególnie uwodzicielskie. Wydany w 2013 roku album „Shadow Man” przyniósł Berne'owi jedne z najwyższych pochwał w jego kompozytorskiej i wykonawczej karierze. DownBeat powiedział: „Ta muzyka kołysze ale i zmusza do myślenia, poszukuje, dekonstruuje i swinguje w jedyny w swoim rodzaju kanciasty, Berne'owski sposób”.Jeżeli teraz Berne osiąga kolejny szczyt albumem „You’ve Been Watching Me”, jego zespół osiągnął najwyższy stopień zespołowej interakcji. Snakeoil ciągle potrafi być niezwykle ruchliwy. Ale powstaje nowa przestrzeń w tych kompozycjach, skoncentrowanych na bardziej lirycznych improwizacjach, prowadzących do dramatycznych a nawet filmowych przeżyć w takich utworach jak „Embraceable Me”.
