Po 2 latach pracy, w końcu ukaże się czwarty longplay Avril Lavigne. Płyta "Goodbye Lullaby" zostanie wydana 8 marca nakładem RCA Records / Sony Music. Pierwszy singel z zestawu piosenkarka zaprezentowała w Sylwestra. Podczas programu "Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve" fani usłyszeli utwór "What the Hell". W studiu Kanadyjkę wspierali wieloletni współpracownicy - Deryck Whibley, Evan Taubenfeld i Butch Walker, jak również producent, Max Martin. Avril poprzez muzykę wciąż dzieli się osobistymi doświadczeniami, proponując jednocześnie nagrania bardziej dojrzałe, surowe i organiczne pod względem brzmienia. Wśród energicznych utworów znajdują się "What the Hell" - pochwała radości i wolności oraz "Stop Standing There" w stylu żeńskich grup z lat 50. We wrześniu piosenkarka powołała do życia charytatywną organizację - The Avril Lavigne Foundation, która wspiera ciężko chore lub upośledzone dzieci.
