Sir Elton John, urodzony jako Reginald Kenneth Dwight, był przez większość ostatnich pięćdziesięciu lat jednym z dominujących artystów w muzyce rockowej i popowej, szczególnie w latach 70., kiedy produkował takie hity jak Your Song, Rocket Man, Bennie i the Jets and Crocodile Rock. Sprzedał ponad 250 milionów albumów i ponad 100 milionów singli, co czyni go jednym z najbardziej popularnych artystów wszechczasów. Zdobył również 5 nagród Grammy i Oscara. W 2004 roku magazyn Rolling Stone umieścił go na 49 pozycji na liście 100 największych artystów wszechczasów. John został wprowadzony do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame w 1994 roku. 3-płytowy „The Many Faces of Elton John” daje głęboki wgląd w karierę jednej z najbardziej legendarnych gwiazd muzyki pop.
