Najnowsze objawienie brytyjskiej sceny indie! Kolejne single (Sex, The City i Chocolate) podbijające stacje radiowe, trasa u boku Muse i legendarnych The Rolling Stones, a wreszcie debiutancka płyta „The 1975” lądująca wprost na 1. miejscu UK Album Chart. W efekcie The 1975 doskonale odnaleźli się w mocno inspirowanym latami 80-tymi synth-popowo rockowym brzmieniu z tekstami oscylującymi wokół tematyki młodości, dojrzewania, miłości, seksu, przemijania i śmierci. Zespół w swojej twórczości przyznaje się do fascynacji takimi wykonawcami jak Talking Heads, Prince, My Bloody Valentine, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno i Sigur Ros. Jednak jako swoją największą inspirację wymieniają dokonania amerykańskiego reżysera – Johna Hughesa.
