Z albumu pochodzi singlowa, świetna piosenka "Rubberband Girl". Brzmienie to dzieło Kate. Do sesji zaprosiła ona paru znakomitych instrumentalistów, chociażby Prince'a, Jeffa Becka, Erica Claptona i Gary'ego Brookera. Orkiestracje napisał Michael Kamen. Po wydaniu "The Red Shoes" Kate Bush zamilkła na 12 długich lat.
