Instrumenty, których brzmienie zaprezentowane zostało na niniejszej płycie, mają bardzo bogatą historię, sięgającą czasów antycznych. Nic więc dziwnego, że ich zestawienie rozpala wyobraźnię kompozytorów i jest przyczynkiem do powstawania licznych dzieł, które często stają się istotnymi pozycjami w katalogu wielu autorów, jak ma to miejsce np. w przypadku Sonaty Adriana Shaposhnikova. Barwy obu instrumentów znakomicie się uzupełniają, a ich współbrzmienie oferuje całą paletę kolorów, dając kompozytorom ogromne możliwości brzmieniowe, w których jedynym ograniczeniem jest ich wyobraźnia. Nie dziwi zatem fakt, iż jest to zestawienie instrumentów wybierane przez wielu twórców, czego owocem są często dzieła, które na stałe znajdują swoje miejsce w repertuarze wykonawców i sercach melomanów.
