Mateo Flecha - hiszpański kompozytor urodzony w Królestwie Aragonii w regionie Prades. Niektórzy określali go przydomkiem "El Viejo" (starszy), aby odróżnić go od jego siostrzeńca Mateo Flecha "El Joven" (młodszego). Flecha tworzył muzykę w katedrze w Lleidzie, skąd przeniósł się do Guadalajary. Sześć lat służył księciu Diego Hurtado de Mendozie. Następnie udał się do Walencji, gdzie objął kierownictwo chóru kapelańskiego księcia Kalabrii. W 1537 roku przeniósł się do Siguenza. Pełnił tam funkcję "maestro di cappella". Od 1544 do 1548 roku mieszkał w zamku Arevalo jako nauczyciel córek Karola V, cesarza rzymskiego. Pod koniec życia Mateo Flecha został mnichem zakonu cystersów, w klasztorze w Poblet, gdzie zmarł w 1553 roku.
