Na płycie zaprezentowane zostały kantaty na sopran solo Christopha Graupnera (1683-1760). Zachowało się ponad 1400 kantat kościelnych tego kompozytora późnego baroku, którego „kolegami” byli m.in. Johann Friedrich Fasch, Johann David Heinichen oraz Georg Friedrich Handel. Zetknął się z nimi podczas nauki w Thomasschule w Lispku, a z Handlem w orkiestrze opery hamburskiej. Od 1711 roku związał się z dworem w Darmstadt, gdzie przebywał do końca życia. Kłopoty finansowe dworu zmusiły go w pewien sposób do podjęcia się komponowania kantat kościelnych. Dzięki temu zyskaliśmy piękną muzykę, która powoli przywracana jest do „życia”. Debiutująca tą płytą sopranistka Miriam Feuersinger, której towarzyszy barokowy zespół z Bazylei grający na instrumentach z epoki, nadała tej muzyce wprost zapierającą dech w piersiach interpretację. Muzyka sama w sobie jest godna najwyższej pochwały, a wykonanie nadaje jej dodatkowych walorów. Barwa i kultura głosu, świadomość wykonawcza, wyrazowość i siła jej przekazu – wszystko to składa się na jeden wielki zachwyt każdego, kto sięgnie po tę płytę.
Warszawska Antigama atakuje materiał w postaci 19-minutowego mini-albumu. Następcę wydanego w 2015 roku "The Insolent" nagrano i zmiksowano w stołecznym JNS Studio z producentem i wieloletnim współpracownikiem zespołu Pawłem Grabowskim. Następnie mastering wykonał James Plotkin (O.L.D., Phantomsmasher) w Plotkinworks. "Depressant" to 7 utworów perfekcyjnego wykonanego progresywnego grindcore'a, który od dawna jest znakiem firmowym Antigamy. Pozycja obowiązkowa dla fanów Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth. Perhaps no composer is more associated with a city than Johann Strauss II with Vienna. Indeed it is hard to consider Vienna without thinking of the waltz, and the waltz empire is dominated by the Strauss family. Johann Strauss I & II, Josef Strauss, and Eduard Strauss produced a seemingly inexhaustible supply of melodies which have entranced not only the dancers of the world, but also its musicians and music-lovers from the 1840s to the present. Whilst much of their music has never been out of the recorded repertoire, so prolific was their output that a quantity of top-rate music was forgotten over the years. Jack Rothstein recorded three volumes of such rarities in the 1980s and ’90s, which comprised music by the Strauss family and their contemporaries. So enjoyable and tuneful are these ‘Vienna Premieres’ that it is impossible to understand just why they had been neglected. Time and time again one is amazed at the unflagging inspiration which seemed to come so easily to composers of this period, who produced consistently high-quality light, entertaining music, beautifully crafted and orchestrated. Jack Rothstein was a master of this music. Appointed Musical Director of the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1976, he was steeped in the distinctive performing style associated with this repertoire for years before making the pioneering digital recordings collected here.
