Leroy Jodie Pierson powołał Nighthawk Records do życia w 1974 roku, wydając serię klasycznych bluesowych kompilacji. W 1979 roku sprzedał label Robertowi Schoenfeldowi i trafił do Kingston na Jamajce, gdzie zajął się produkowaniem płyty dla wytwórni. Nighthawk zaczęło wydawać wówczas płyt takich wykonawców jak Gladiators, Ethiopian, Junior Byles, Justin Hinds, Winston Jarrett, Itals czy Ronnie Davis. Teraz, po raz pierwszy w historii, Pierson objął kuratelę nad wydawnictwem, które stanowił wizytówkę Nighthawk. Poza ulubionymi piosenkami artystów związanych z wytwórnią, zestaw "Send I A Lion: A Nighthawk Reggae Joint" zawiera pochodzące spoza płyt utwory The Mighty Diamonds, Morwells i Wailing Souls, w tym niepublikowaną wcześniej nagraną w hotelowym pokoju wersję "4000 Years" The Mighty Diamonds. Zestaw uzupełniają zdjęcia z prywatnej kolekcji Piersona oraz nowe notki.

Jest też wydanie super deluxe boxed set.Legendarny muzyk zremasterował nagrania z oryginalnych taśm. Zgodnie z tradycją wznawianego studyjnego katalogu zespołu, wznowienie poszerzył o dysk z dodatkowymi nagraniami. Do wydanego w 1976 roku i nagranego w 18 dni w Monachium „Presence”, Jimmy dodał dysk z pięcioma wcześniej niepublikowanymi miksami utworów, a także innymi wersjami kawałków „For Your Life”, „Achilles Last Stand” i „Royal Orleans” oraz instrumentalną kompozycję, wcześniej niepublikowaną „10 Ribs & All/Carrot Pod Pod (Pod)”.
