Europejska kariera klawesynu na mieszczańskich salonach nie trwała długo, ale zaznaczyła się całkiem sporym zbiorem dzieł stworzonych przez wybitnych kompozytorów, począwszy od XVI wieku.Ze względu na ograniczenia dynamiczne instrumentu, klawesyn wybierano najchętniej wtedy, gdy miał realizować partię basso continuo - harmoniczną podporę kompozycji. Dopiero z czasem zdarzało się coraz częściej, że jego rola była zdecydowanie bardziej samodzielna. I to nieraz do tego stopnia, że dedykowano mu utwory o charakterze wirtuozowskim. Na płytę składają się właśnie takie utwory z czasów świetności wykonawczej klawesynu. Utwory o charakterze wirtuozowskim, przeznaczone na dwa klawesyny w wykonaniu niezwykłego duetu. Japońska klawesynistka Marika Kato oraz jej polski mistrz i pedagog Elżbieta Stefańska tworzą wyśmienity duet znakomicie rozumiejących się muzyków w niebanalnym repertuarze.

We continue our comprehensive survey of the many great pianists who worked in Russia in the Soviet era with the first disc featuring a pianist who was not a pupil of one of the three major teaching traditions we have been following. In this case Maria Yudina’s most influential professor was Leonid Nikolayev (1878 - 1942), who also taught Sofronirsky. Maria Yudina is perhaps the greatest maverick amongst the Soviet pianists. A woman of great will, and one with a burning Christian faith, she somehow seemed to survive on the fringes of the Soviet system while having countless run-ins with authority. She was never allowed to play outside the USSR and was dismissed successively from the Leningrad and then Moscow conservatories, yet she was much loved by the people and respected by her peers, Shostakovich in particular. She was a great champion of contemporary western music, another thorn in the side of the authorities, and introduced many such works to Soviet audiences, but she was also renowned for her playing of Bach and Beethoven. She made many recordings, which are at last making their way onto CD, but one of the finest is undoubtedly her towering rendition of Beethoven's great masterpiece, the 'Hammerklavier' sonata, which is included here.

Dokładnie 50 lat temu, 8 sierpnia, najsłynniejszy zespół świata wyszedł z EMI Recording Studios w Londynie, by udać się na najbardziej ikoniczny spacer wszech czasów. Iain Macmillan sfotografował The Beatles, którzy przechodzili przez przejście dla pieszych. Kultowe zdjęcie trafiło na okładkę albumu „Abbey Road”, który w tym roku doczeka się jubileuszowej reedycji. Album „Abbey Road” ukazał się 26 września 1969 i choć nie był ostatnim wydawnictwem The Beatles (w 1970 ukazało się „Let It Be”), to była to ostatnia płyta, którą John, Paul, George i Ringo nagrali razem jako zespół. 27 września 2019 do sprzedaży trafią reedycje albumu. 17 utworów zostało zmiksowanych przez Gilesa Martina oraz inżyniera dźwięku Sama Okella w stereo, high res stereo, 5.1 surround oraz Dolby Atmos. Do podstawowej tracklisty dodano także 23 nagrania z sesji i demówki. Większość z nich ujrzy światło dzienne po raz pierwszy. Nowa edycja „Abbey Road” to kolejne z cyklu wznowień, w ramach których ukazały się „Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” oraz „The Beatles” (kultowy „Biały Album”). – Ręce, które grały na instrumentach, głosy The Beatles, piękno aranżacji – te wszystkie składniki tworzą prawdziwą magię.
