For his studies Johann Georg Pisendel (1687-1755), concertmaster at Dresden, compiled a large and precious collection of scores of his own and of other instrumental works. Since around 1760 it is part of the Hofkirche library, and where it has been kept in a cupboard marked Schranck II (cupboard II). There it stayed more or less neglected (inspite of the fact that it contained unique scores by Vivaldi, Telemann, Heinichen and Fasch) until in the 1960s musicologists started to review it. After their recording of oboe concertos (ACC 24202) the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle is now presenting a fine selection with chamber music taken from Schranck II.
