Pochodzący z Niemiec wybitny kompozytor Robert Schumann, urodzony w 1810 roku w Zwickau, zmarł w 1856 w Enenich, tworzył w epoce romantyzmu i należał do najwybitniejszych prekursorów owej ery. Lata 1832-39 były dla artysty „Rokiem pieśni”, gdzie kompozytor tworzył głównie utwory na fortepian solo i pieśni. Kompozycje orkiestrowe i kameralne przypadają na rok 1841, stworzył on wtedy wiele różnorakich kompozycje: uwertury, koncerty i sonaty. Album został wydany przez wytwórnię Alto (ALC 1136).
