Following hard on the heels of her critically acclaimed Bach Sonatas and Partitas (ONYX4040), this new CD of Beethoven’s 3rd and 9th violin sonatas sees Viktoria Mullova partner with fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout in performances that are both searching and exciting. This recording marks the 50th release from ONYX, and the 5th anniversary of the label.Mullova’s plays on her 1750 Guadagnini with gut strings, and with a baroque bow by Walter Barbiero. Dwa arcydzieł XIX-wiecznej kameralistyki fortepianowej. Skomponowany w 1911 roku kwintet fortepianowy g moll Taneyeva – zwanego też rosyjskim Brahmsem i z 1900 kwintet fortepianowy Arensky’ego. Monumentalne dzieło Taneyeva jest wykonywane rzadko ze względu na ogromne wymagania techniczne stawiane wykonawcy.

Wajnberg Trio na swój fonograficzny debiut wybrał dzieła trzech polskich kompozytorów-emigrantów: Mieczysława Wajnberga, Aleksandra Tansmana i Andrzeja Czajkowskiego. Zespół tworzą cieszący się uznaniem muzycy-kameraliści, angażujący się na co dzień w działalność artystyczną na wielu polach – pianista Piotr Sałajczyk, skrzypek Szymon Krzeszowiec oraz wiolonczelista Arkadiusz Dobrowolski. Połączyła ich fascynacja życiem i twórczością wybitnego polskiego kompozytora, Mieczysława Wajnberga, oraz pasja wykonywania muzyki kameralnej.
