Żywiołem tego wspaniałego włoskiego tenora była scena operowa, w późniejszych etapie kariery Luciano Pavarotti lubił też pojawiać się na wielkich koncertach, gdzie słynne arie i pieśni śpiewał sam lub w towarzystwie innych gwiazd, ale zawsze z dużą orkiestrą w tle. Tym razem mamy okazję poznać jego bardziej kameralny wizerunek. Z samym pianistą Luciano Pavarotti nie występował często, a jeśli już, to nie w ostatnim latach. Ten recital zarejestrowano w Barcelonie w 1989 r., a głos Pavarottiego, który liczył wówczas 54 lata, zachował w pełni młodzieńczy blask i siłę, czego brakuje w licznych późniejszych nagraniach.

Giulio Caccini was reputedly a father of Baroque music, but I would go further and call him a father of great music. He was early to understand the richness of tonal melody. This collection of the complete chamber music of Poulenc shows the varying styles that he employed.
