Wybitny kompozytor austriacki Gustav Mahler, urodzony w 1860 roku w Kaliste (Cesarstwo Austriackie), zmarł w 1911 w Wiedniu, był on również wspaniałym dyrygentem. Artystę zrodziła epoka neoromantyzmu i przez wielu jest uważany za najlepszego symfonistę. W swoich czasach był doceniany bardziej jako dyrygent niż kompozytor. Wzrost popularności jego twórczością przypada na II połowę XX wieku. Album został wydany przez wytwórnię Bis (BISSACD 2147). Wydawnictwo otrzymało nagrodę Limelight (Limelight, 01-2018).
