Christian Ferras, tak jak Yehudi Menuhin, był uczniem George’a Enescu. Urodził się we Francji w 1933 r. Już w młodym wieku występował z takimi gwiazdami, jak Menuhin, Pablo Casals, Wilhelm Kempff I Karl Böhm, aby stać się w końcu ulubionym skrzypkiem samego Herberta von Karajana. Jego karierę niestety szybko zakończyła depresja, ale to nagranie koncertów Czajkowskiego i Mendelssohna, pochodzące z 1958 r. stanowią niezbity dowód wyjątkowego kunsztu tego artysty – są nadzwyczajnie precyzyje i  piękne – w pełnej okazałości chwale jego młodości.
