In contemporary sources which go into precise detail concerning the performing musicians, one also finds references to the expansion of the orchestra by two trumpets and one trombone. The otherwise well-known works of Corelli are rarely heard in this expansive, brilliant orchestration. Harmonie Universelle now aims to fill this gap with the present recording.

Contemporary gospel singer Vicki Yohe performs live in Atlanta in 2009. Songs include 'Because of Who You Are', 'The Lord Is Good', 'I Will Sing Praises', 'Your Breakthrough' and 'One Moment'.
Caroline Delume studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Alexandre Lagoya, Claude Ballif and Michael Levinas. She currently teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. She is a member of Le Concert Spirituel and Solistes XXI, and plays with ensembles such as WEDO, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Orchestre de Paris and the Orchestre National de France. She has given recitals throughout Europe, and in Japan and Central America. Caroline Delume’s wide repertoire ranges from seventeenth-century music, on theorbo and early guitar, to contemporary music, including many premieres. Various composers have dedicated works to her. In the CD (Arion label) ‘The art of contemporary guitar – Multifonia 95’, Caroline Delume joins other musicians in a recital of Spanish chamber music, baroque and contemporary.

Howard Shelley continues his appraisal of a composer who in his lifetime was classed with Mozart and Beethoven, and enjoyed international fame and admiration. Shelley is a master of the Classical–Romantic style and in his hands the music of Spohr, heard very little today, reveals a freshness and excitement which is utterly beguiling. Spohr’s Piano Sonata and Rondoletto are paired with works by George Onslow, Spohr’s exact contemporary. Both composers wrote very little piano music and this release comprises all their major works for the instrument. Again, music to charm and delight is rediscovered through Shelley’s expert performances.
