Wanda Landowska, who continued to perform and record up to her death in 1959, was renowned as the greatest harpsichordist of the first half of the twentieth century, resurrecting the instrument and taking a scholarly approach to the performance of music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This recording of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, made between 1949 and 1954, was begun to commemorate the bicentenary of the death of Bach in 1750. As with all of Landowska’s recordings, what strikes the listener most is her vitality, her musical integrity, and her total commitment to the music she is playing. A contemporary reviewer noted at the time, “All such features of her playing should be studied and pondered, for here is a great musician interpreting in the light of long and fruitful experience and study. Those who know the score best should forget their theories and listen to what she has to say.”

Dorothee Oberlinger studied German and music education at the University of Cologne and the Cologne Music Conservatory. Further studies in recorder followed with Günther Höller in Cologne and Walter van Hauwe in Amsterdam. She received a grant from the North Rhine-Westphalian Cultural Foundation to continue her instrumental studies with Pedro Memelsdorff in Milan. She is presently pursuing a doctorate in musicology at the University of Vienna. In 1996, she was a prizewinner at the ERTA competition for contemporary music in Kassel.            Awarded first prize in the international competition "Moeck U.K." held in London in 1997, she gave her debut recital in the Wigmore Hall following the competition. In the same year, she was honored with a grant from the DAAD to study in Lisbon, and was received into the forum for talented young artists by the Society for Contemporary Music. She has performed in numerous concerts and taken part in various radio, television, and CD productions, both as a soloist and as a member of the ensembles Ornamente 99 and Bois de Cologne. In addition to her musicological activities and performances in the field of early music, she is involved in contemporary music, and has, in recent years, premiered many newly-composed pieces. In 2001, she was the first recorder player to receive an award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the category of young instrumentalists. Since 2003 she is teaching recorder at the Mozarteum in Saltzburg.

Documentary which chronicles the life and career of renowned Canadian balladeer and poet, Leonard Cohen. The bard of Montreal has written songs that have struck a chord with several generations now, and his influence on modern song writing carries arguably as much weight as a Dylan or a Van Morrison. In 2005, director Lian Lunson travelled to The Sydney Opera House to capture a concert called 'Came So Far for Beauty' - a tribute to Cohen performed by contemporary artists including Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Rufus Wainright and Beth Orton. The film also features a unique performance of the Cohen classic 'I'm Your Man' with the man himself on vocal and U2 backing him. These performances are scattered with clips of Cohen in a candid and humorous interview.

We continue our comprehensive survey of the many great pianists who worked in Russia in the Soviet era with the first disc featuring a pianist who was not a pupil of one of the three major teaching traditions we have been following. In this case Maria Yudina’s most influential professor was Leonid Nikolayev (1878 - 1942), who also taught Sofronirsky. Maria Yudina is perhaps the greatest maverick amongst the Soviet pianists. A woman of great will, and one with a burning Christian faith, she somehow seemed to survive on the fringes of the Soviet system while having countless run-ins with authority. She was never allowed to play outside the USSR and was dismissed successively from the Leningrad and then Moscow conservatories, yet she was much loved by the people and respected by her peers, Shostakovich in particular. She was a great champion of contemporary western music, another thorn in the side of the authorities, and introduced many such works to Soviet audiences, but she was also renowned for her playing of Bach and Beethoven. She made many recordings, which are at last making their way onto CD, but one of the finest is undoubtedly her towering rendition of Beethoven's great masterpiece, the 'Hammerklavier' sonata, which is included here.

Album utrzymany jest w klimacie muzyki soul, określanym przez artystkę mianem poetyckiego, refleksyjnego z elementami hip hopu. Był to absolutnie magiczny i przełomowy czas mojego życia. Utwór otwierający płytę, „Zostawcie mnie”, był taką pierwsza reakcją na totalnie odmienne środowisko (mieszkałam w klasztorze) i brałam udział w codziennych sesjach opartych na wizualizacji z zamkniętymi oczami. To ucieczka od łatwych rozwiązań i szukanie własnych znaczeń. Porusza tematykę przekazu transgeneracyjnego i kulturowego, wolności religijnej, szukania niezależności a równocześnie potrzeby bezpieczeństwa i schronienia. Jest o wyjątkowości każdego człowieka”. Ola Igboaka to pochodząca z Krakowa, a mieszkająca w Londynie wokalistka, kompozytorka i autorka tekstów, absolwentka londyńskiego The Institute of Contemporary Music. Jest też absolwentką psychologii na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim. Muzyczną edukację pobierała w klasie skrzypiec, a później w Krakowskiej Szkole Jazzu i Muzyki Rozrywkowej. Udzielała się w chórkach takich artystów jak Junior Stress czy Lilu, a także w Chórze Katedry Wawelskiej. Do tej pory jej utwory mogliśmy usłyszeć m.in. w Radiu Kraków czy Programie Trzecim Polskiego Radia. Jej debiutancka płyta „Wyspa” prezentująca oryginalną mieszankę soulu, popu i elektroniki, uznana była przez wielu dziennikarzy muzycznych za album roku 2016. Płytę promuje singiel „Zostawcie mnie”.
