"The Staple Singers" to amerykański muzyczny skarb, laureaci Grammy za całokształt i członkowie Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. W latach 50. byli jedną z największych powojennych grup gospelowych, a w latach 60. pionierami soul folku. Pod koniec dekady stali się supergwiazdami soulu, by w latach 70. umieścić 13 singli na amerykańskiej liście przebojów pop i R&B. "The Staple Singers" odnosili także sukcesy w kinie, pojawiając się w muzycznych filmach "Wattstax" oraz "Ostatni walc" The Band, a także nagrywając wyprodukowany przez Curtisa Mayfielda soundtrack do wyreżyserowanego przez Sidneya Poitier filmu "Zróbmy to jeszcze raz" ("Let's Do It Again"). Tytułowy singiel dotarł na szczyt popowej i tanecznej listy przebojów w USA. Choć od połowy lat 70. ich sława przycichła, w 1984 roku odnieśli sukces z coverem "Slippery People" z repertuaru Talking Heads. Od 1969 roku Mavis Staples z powodzeniem wydaje solowe płyty i ma na koncie współpracę z takimi artystami i producentami jak Ry Cooder, Jeff Tweedy, Arcade Fire, Gorillaz czy Ben Harper. Do sprzedaży właśnie trafia reedycja wyprodukowanego przez Curtisa Mayfielda albumu "Let's Do It Again" z 1975 roku. Wydawnictwo zawiera komentarze laureata Grammy, Roba Bowmana, zdjęcia oraz alternatywne wersje singli jako bonusy.
