Cztery dekady temu, dokładnie 21 września 1978 roku, premierę miał singlowy utwór amerykańskiej grupy Chic „Le Freak”, który zdobył szczyt amerykańskiej listy przebojów i stał się jedną z najsłynniejszych kompozycji kapeli. Dla upamiętnienia tego wydarzenia przygotowano wyjątkowy zestaw, zatytułowany „The Chic Organization 1977-1979”. Przygotowany w postaci zarówno sześciu płyt winylowych (180-gramowy winyl), jak i na pięciu kompaktach box zawiera pierwsze trzy studyjne płyty Chic – „Chic” (1978), „C'est Chic” (1978) i „Risqué”, które zostały na nowo zmasterowane z oryginalnych taśm w słynnych studiach Abbey Road przez Milesa Showella i z udziałem Nile'a Rodgersa. Swoją zgodę na to dali również spadkobiercy basisty i wokalisty Bernarda Edwardsa. W pudełku z winylową edycją znajdziemy również dokładną reprodukcję pierwszego singla „Chic” w postaci 12-calowego promo z utworem „Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yosah, Yosah)” z Buddah Records z 1977 roku, czyli z czasu, zanim zespół podpisał kontrakt z wytwórnią Atlantic. Nile i Bernard zawsze uważali, że w tej drugiej piosence bas brzmi lepiej niż na późniejszej wersji. Poza tym w boxie będzie można znaleźć remiksy na 7- i 12-calowych płytkach wielu przebojów „Chic”, chociażby „Good Times”, który był jednym z najczęściej samplowanych utworów w historii. Jest też napisany przez Rodgersa i Edwardsa wielki hit grupy Sister Sledge „We Are Family”. Wspomniany singel „Le Freak” sprzedał się w ponad 7 mln egzemplarzy. Dziś jest już częścią dziedzictwa narodowego Stanów Zjednoczonych i został włączony do katalogu Biblioteki Kongresu USA. „Dzięki muzyce, którą napisałem z Bernardem, moje życie stało się takim, o jakim marzyłem” – mówi Nile Rodgers. „Cieszyła się uznaniem krytyków i odnosiła sukcesy komercyjne. O czymś takim marzyli dwaj muzycy, którzy nie uznawali żadnych granic, których współpraca była bezproblemowa, a tak właśnie było. Napisanie jednego z najlepiej sprzedających się singli w historii Atlantic Records, jednej z największych wytwórni w historii, było jak marzenie!. Dlatego było dla mnie ważne, aby przygotować te wznowienia w najlepszym możliwym brzmieniu dla uczczenia pamięci Bernarda. Miles Showell doskonale wykonał swoją pracę. Czterdzieści lat później wszystko brzmi bardzo świeżo” kontynuuje. Box CD wzbogaca też esej autorstwa Toure i Paula Morleya, a winylowy historyka muzyki Ashleya Kahna oraz esej Paula Morleya w pełnej długości. „Chic byli tak dobrzy w tym, co robili. Łączyli żywiołowość i zamiłowanie do eksperymentów ze wspaniałymi melodiami oraz wyczuciem, jak tworzyć zaraźliwą muzykę dla tych, dla których życie zaczyna się po zmroku. To, co napisali, brzmiało najlepiej w nocnych klubach, a dopiero potem zdobywało antenę radiową” – czytamy w eseju Paula Morleya. Rodgers i Edwards założyli Chic w 1976 roku po tym, jak zobaczyli w Londynie koncert Roxy Music. Rok później mieli już podpisany kontrakt z Atlantic Records, czego rezultatem były później hity: „Le Freak”, „Good Times”, „I Want Your Love”, „Everybody Dance”, „My Feet Keep Dancing”, „My Forbidden Lover” i inne. Panowie pisali też piosenki dla innych wykonawców, chociażby wspomnianych Sister Sledge. Ich płyta „We Are Family” z 1978 roku stała się wielkim sukcesem dzięki utworowi tytułowemu oraz „He's The Greatest Dancer”, „Lost In Music” i „Thinking Of You”. Nile Rodgers został wybrany przewodniczącym Songwriters Hall Of Fame oraz objął stanowisko Chief Creative Advisor w Abbey Road Studios.
