Po oskarowym sukcesie filmu "Mała Miss" (2006) nominowany do nagrody Grammy soundtrack całkowicie zmienił pozycję ekscetrycznej grupy DeVotchKa, która go przygotowała. Jak najbardziej zasłużenie, czego dowodzi nowy jej album - "A Mad And Faithful Telling".DeVotchKa to jeden z tych wykonawców, którzy odpowiedzialni są za bodaj najbardziej interesujący nurt we współczesnym niezależnym rocku, a do których można zaliczyć również Sufjana Stevensa, Beirut, Gogol Bordello czy, po części, Fiery Furnaces z okresu "Rehearsing My Choir". Z tak wielką nonszalancją ci wykonawcy demolują gitarowy etos tej muzyki i zapuszczają się na muzyczne terytoria dotąd wręcz zakazane dla rocka, że nie wiadomo, co w nich najpierw należy podziwiać. Czy straceńczą odwagę, z jaką to czynią, czy też niekonwencjonalne efekty ich przewrotnej kreatywności. Zespół DeVotchKa powstał w Denver w 1997 roku z inicjatywy Nicka Uraty (śpiew, gitara, trąbka), Jeanie Schroder (suzafon, kontrabas) i Shawna Kinga (instr. perkusyjne), z czasem poszerzając swoje i tak już niezwykłe instrumentarium o skrzypce, mandolinę i akordeon. Dopiero jednak ich trzeci album, "How It Ends" (2004) wydany przez renomowany sublabel Epitaphu, Anti-, pozwolił im wychynąć poza status najlepiej strzeżonej tajemnicy stanu Colorado. Rzeczywiście, miks muzyki cygańskiej z Europy środkowo-wschodniej, polki, dętej bombastyczności kapel mariachi, nostalgii spaghettiwesternowych soundtracków oraz kabaretu po prostu był nie mniejszym objawieniem niż dekadę wcześniej eksperymenty intergatunkowe Stereolabu w Wielkiej Brytanii czy Calexico w USA. No i wreszcie jest to, na co ci wszyscy, którzy cztery lata temu dali się uwieść muzycznemu szaleństwu DeVotchKi, czekali z nadzieją, ale i obawą. Po wysłuchaniu "A Mad And Faithful Telling", stare obawy znikają bez śladu. DeVotchKa to mistrzowie w swojej specjalizacji, dokładnie świadomi efektu, jaki chcą osiągnąć. Nawiązują więc do swych pierwotnych fascynacji (cygańskich w "Basso Profondo", westernowo-meksykańskich w "Head Honcho", lecz nigdy nie w sposób jednoznaczny), ale równie pewnie wprowadzają też nowe elementy, jak choćby walczyk "Strizzalo", jakby zawierający aluzję do dawnych soundtracków Nina Roty ozdabiających filmy Federico Felliniego, czy mający w sobie coś z pieśni neapolitańskich "Undone". Pięć lat temu DeVotchKa była intrygującą ciekawostką. Dziś to jeden z tych zespołów, którzy każą ufnie patrzeć w przyszłość indie-muzyki.

Ed Harcourt ogłasza premierę ósmego albumu: „Beyond The End”. Ed Harcourt to brytyjski kompozytor i songwriter. Jego debiutancki album z 2001 roku „Here Be Monsters” znalazł się wśród nominowanych do prestiżowej nagrody Mercury Music Prize.
