Big Boi jest jednym z najbardziej uznanych i wpływowych artystów w historii muzyki. Jako połówka Outkast zdobył sześć nagród Grammy, sprzedał 25 milionów płyt oraz stworzył serię wybitnych albumów, które zapisały się w kanonie rapu – między innymi „Aquemini”, „Stankonia”, „Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” i „Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”. Ostatni z nich przyniósł Outkast nagrodę Grammy za album roku – to jak na razie jedyna płyta rap, która zdobyła tę statuetkę. Debiutancki, solowy album Big Boia z 2010 roku, „Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty”, dotarł do trzeciego miejsca listy Billboard Top 200 oraz zdobył uznanie krytyków. Pitchfork uznał go jedną ze 100 najlepszych płyt wydanych do tej pory w obecnej dekadzie. Druga płyta, „Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors”, ukazała się w 2012 roku. 20 lutego ukazał się nowy album formacji Black Star Riders zatytułowany „The Killer Instinct”, nad którego produkcją czuwał sam Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Mastodon). Black Star Riders powstało w 2012 roku z inicjatywy muzyków Thin Lizzy – Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Ricky Warwick i Marco Mendoza zaprosili do grania perkusistę Jimmy’ego DeGrasso (Alice Cooper, Megadeth) i już rok później ukazał się debiutancki album formacji zatytułowany „All Hell Breaks Loose”, który zebrał znakomite recenzje.
