8 listopada 2017 roku w Londynie znakomite szkockie trio Biffy Clyro zagrało niesamowity koncert akustyczny z serii "MTV Unplugged". Zapis wydarzenia z Londynu przygotowano w kilku formatach. Fenomenalny, magiczny – takich epitetów używały brytyjskie media dla opisania wydarzenia, które miało miejsce w słynnej Sali Roundhouse. Simon Neil (wokal, gitara, fortepiano, theremin) i bracia Johnstonowie, James (gitara basowa, syntezatory, wokal) oraz Ben (perkusja, wokal) udowodnili, że potrafią nie tylko zagrać energetyczny, rockowy koncert, lecz również odnajdują się w intymnej, akustycznej otoczce i potrafią wzruszać. Dając ten pamiętny występ, w którego trakcie zaprezentowali 15 piosenek, dołączyli do grona wielkich, którzy także pojawili się w serii "MTV Unplugged", jak chociażby Nirvana, Oasis, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., George Michael, Alice In Chains. W zestawie nie mogło zabraknąć koncertowych pewniaków Biffy Clyro, chociażby "Machines" (wykonany tylko z towarzyszeniem gitary akustycznej), "Many Of Horror", "Re-arrange", "Medicine", "The Captain", "Black Chandelier", "Bubbles". Prezentem specjalnym dla fanow jest świetny cover "God Only Knows" grupy Beach Boys, a także premierowa piosenka "Different Kind Of Love". We continue our comprehensive survey of the many great pianists who worked in Russia in the Soviet era with the first disc featuring a pianist who was not a pupil of one of the three major teaching traditions we have been following. In this case Maria Yudina’s most influential professor was Leonid Nikolayev (1878 - 1942), who also taught Sofronirsky. Maria Yudina is perhaps the greatest maverick amongst the Soviet pianists. A woman of great will, and one with a burning Christian faith, she somehow seemed to survive on the fringes of the Soviet system while having countless run-ins with authority. She was never allowed to play outside the USSR and was dismissed successively from the Leningrad and then Moscow conservatories, yet she was much loved by the people and respected by her peers, Shostakovich in particular. She was a great champion of contemporary western music, another thorn in the side of the authorities, and introduced many such works to Soviet audiences, but she was also renowned for her playing of Bach and Beethoven. She made many recordings, which are at last making their way onto CD, but one of the finest is undoubtedly her towering rendition of Beethoven's great masterpiece, the 'Hammerklavier' sonata, which is included here.

Hyperion’s Bach Transcriptions series shows Bach through the fascinating prism of the Romantic musical mind. This latest volume presents the complete transcriptions by Saint-Saëns, and the programme is interspersed with transcriptions by the elder composer’s friend and disciple, Isidore Philipp. Saint-Saëns was one of the many composers inspired by the continuing publications from the Bach-Gesellschaft, which made many of Bach’s works available in print for the first time, particularly the extraordinary church cantatas. His transcriptions are of particular interest due to his choice of unfamiliar music that was not originally conceived for a keyboard instrument, and the care with which he has made the transcriptions. These are superbly effective piano realizations achieved with the minimum of intervention.Hyperion is thrilled to present the young Bulgarian pianist Nadejda Vlaeva in her label debut. She performs with a palpable energy and impressive technical assurance.
