Sony Music Entertainment przedstawia kolejne dwa wydawnictwa w unikalnym projekcie wydań singli winylowych zespołu Depeche Mode. Oba zestawy zawierają 12 calowe single winylowe do płyt „Black Celebration” (1986) oraz „Music For The Masses” (1987). Te dwa kluczowe wydawnictwa w kanonie Depeche Mode przesunęły muzyczną misję grupy z industrialnego popu w stronę bardziej mrocznych obszarów muzyki.. W 1986 roku album „Black Celebration” silnie oddziaływał na popkulturę inspirując niezliczoną ilość młodych muzyków do tworzenia własnych zespołów. Wydany rok później album „Music For The Masses” przyspieszył międzynarodowy sukces grupy otwierając jej rynki wielu krajów w tym Stany Zjednoczone. Muzyka Depeche Mode zagościła na całym świecie. Grupa zagrała koncerty w ówczesnym komunistycznym Berlinie Wschodnim, Budapeszcie i Pradze. Koncert w Rose Bowl w Pasadenie zgromadził ponad sześćdziesiąt tysięcy osób a Record Mirror obwołał „Music For The Masses”: „najbardziej udanym i seksownym albumem grupy”. Członkowie Depeche Mode od początku swojej kariery dostrzegli potencjał tego formatu i wykorzystali moc 12-calowego winyla, który pozwolił zespołowi odkryć nowe możliwości brzmienia. Depeche Mode w pełni wykorzystało winylowe single, jako środek prezentacji swojej muzyki. Na każdym z tych albumów znalazły się single, które na trwałe weszły do muzycznego kanonu na całym świecie. Z „Black Celebration” pochodzą utwory: „A Question of Lust” i „Stripped” a z „Music For The Masses”: „Never Let Me Down Again” i „Strangelove”. „Music For The Masses (The 12 ”Singles)” zawiera siedem oryginalnych 12-calowych singli pochodzących z tego albumu. Sony Music Entertainment wydało dwa pierwsze zestawy z serii „Speak & Spell (Singles)” oraz „A Broken Frame (The Singles)”. Druga tura wydań wzbogaciła kolekcję o „Construction Time Again (The 12" Singles)” oraz „Some Great Reward (The 12" Singles)”. W każdym z tych boxów znalazły się 12 calowe single winylowe o audiofilskiej jakości z dźwiękiem pochodzącym z oryginalnych taśm matek. Strona graficzna wydawnictw to ikonografie inspirowane oryginalnymi wydaniami albumów. Okładki singli zawierają oryginalne grafiki. This two-disc set compiles what England's Tallis Scholars call a "mini-project," a group of several related recordings made at different times (the buyer does not learn exactly when) for the Gimell label. The compilation appeared in 2005. Even with the strong similarities among the three major works involved, the release as a whole makes a lot of sense; you might not want to sit and listen to three substantial requiem masses in a row (plus some motets of a similarly dark hue), but all of them are gorgeous, and all have a great deal to offer the listener who enjoys a cappella sacred polyphony of the late Renaissance. The opening work, and the first recorded in this series by this marvelous mixed-gender adult choir, is the six-part Requiem of Tomás Luís de Victoria, composed in 1603 and one of the undisputed masterpieces of the late Renaissance.

While most of us might regard Pierre de La Rue as a composer of ‘early’ music, for Dr Page and his Gothic Voices this is bordering on the avant garde: this recording represents a leap forward a century from the group’s more accustomed repertoire, and the results are impressive to say the least. La Rue was remarkably prolific; at least twenty-nine Masses can be ascribed to him with confidence, and the Missa De Feria and Missa Sancta Dei genitrix are among the finest. His music is full of imitation, a sense of choreography, and is coloured by a fondness for particularly low registers. In addition to the two Masses, this disc includes the large-scale Pater de celis Deus, arguably the grandest of La Rue’s motets and a work full of counterpoint in its three-part, six-voice canon, and three other motets performed as lute intabulations in editions specially prepared for this recording by Christopher Wilson.
