Reedycja albumu zarejestrowanego w grudniu 1996r. podczas koncertów w Wolverhampton, Cambridge i Shepherds Bush Empire w Londynie. W ich programie znalazły się bluesowe klasyki spopularyzowane przez takie sławy muzyków jak Robert Johnson i Fredie King oraz kompozycje, które Green wykonywał w czasach współpracy z Johnem Mayallem i Fleetwood Mac. Co więcej, po raz pierwszy od 20 lat Peter Green pojawił się w studiu, by nagrać dwa rewelacyjne akustyczne utwory. The late seventeenth century was a period of great change in English music. This was a time when the influences of Italian music were ever-increasing, brought to England by Italian composers such as Draghi, Haym and Matteis, and their German contemporaries Pepusch and Handel. In this new release we explore how the English composers, Purcell, Weldon and Croft, responded to Italian music and incorporated the style into their own works. The two works by Purcell, Sonata in G minor and The Blessed Virgin’s Expostulation, perfectly illustrate his mastery of the Italian style. This is especially evident in the latter, which Purcell wrote in the style of an Italian cantata. This distinctive blend of English and Italian influences also became evident in the works of many European composers in England, as they adopted the native English style and form. In fact the English legacy can be heard in the music of Draghi, Courteville, Matteis, Handel, Pepusch and Haym, almost as clearly as in the music of their English contemporaries. Draghi’s sonata is a prime example of this, it seems to have been influenced by English consort music, and its short, contrasted sections and unexpected harmonies are far removed from the sonatas composers were writing in Italy at the time. The works on this release are performed by Peter Holman’s early music group, The Parley of Instruments, which today is recognised as one of the leading exponents of Baroque music. The Parley’s trail-blazing work in English eighteenth-century music has led to collaborations with soloists such as Catherine Bott, Crispian Steele-Perkins and Elizabeth Wallfisch. On this release, the group is joined by soprano Philippa Hyde, with Peter Holman, conductor and founder of the Parley of Instruments.

Muzykę „Angel Dance” Toona Roosa można określić jako „liryczny funky jazz” w oryginalnych kompozycjach. W ich grze można się doszukać wpływów muzyki światowej, jak „Jungle”, „African music”, „Brazilian samba”, „New Orleans Second line” oraz „American funk” i „Groovy”. Dzięki intuicyjnemu, lirycznemu i zrównoważonemu stylowi gry zdobywca nagrody Bird Toon Roos (1964, Holandia) jest uważany za jednego z najlepszych saksofonistów tenorowych i sopranowych na współczesnej scenie jazzowej. Od początku swojej kariery w 1984 roku Toon współpracował z takimi znakomitymi muzykami jazzowymi jak Ivan Lins, Peter Erskine, Joe Zawinul, Alex Acuna, John Scofield, Toots Thielemans, Vince Mendoza, The Metropole Orchestra i Steely Dan. Toon opracował własne brzmienie, grając różne style muzyczne, od tradycji big band swing po hardbop, od bossa nova po pop, funk i fusion. Toon jest także wielokrotnie nagradzanym kompozytorem, nauczycielem konserwatorium, prywatnym trenerem i producentem własnych albumów. Występował jako lider zespołu, sideman i członek zespołu z wieloma grupami i artystami w całej Europie, a także w Stanach Zjednoczonych, Południowej Afryce, Meksyku, Karaibach i Chinach. Jednym z ostatnich wydarzeń w karierze muzycznej Toona było zaproszenie Waltera Beckera osobiście do otwarcia koncertów Steely Dan na ich europejskiej trasie „Left Bank Holiday” w 2009 roku. Toon Roos Quartet zagrał w dziewięciu dużych salach, w tym w Hammersmith Apollo w Londynie i Olympia w Paryżu. Becker skomentował, że „gra Toona jest tak dobrze wyważona, że każda nuta ma znaczenie muzyczne… koncerty otwierające były doskonałe przez cały czas”. DVD zawiera dokument Johna Twigta na temat kariery muzycznej Toona i twórczości Angel Dance. Album wydała holenderska firma fonograficzna i wytwórnia Challege założona przez Hein van de Geyna, Anne de Jong i Joost Leijena w 1994 roku.
