Koncert Noworoczny z Wiednia jest jednym z najstarszych i najbardziej spektakularnych wydarzeń muzycznych w roku. W swojej ponad siedemdziesięcioletniej historii orkiestrę prowadziło wielu najwybitniejszych dyrygentów na świecie. To tradycyjne wydarzenie od 1 stycznia 1941 roku traktowane jest jako oficjalna inauguracja światowego roku muzycznego. Dzięki transmisjom radiowym i telewizyjnym koncert dociera do odbiorców w 90 krajach świata. W 2018 roku do zadyrygowania orkiestrą Wiedeńskich Filharmoników zaproszony został jeden z największych współczesnych dyrygentów niemieckich Christian Thielemann – Dyrektor Artystyczny Staatskapelle Dresden, a także Wielkanocnego Festiwalu w Salzburgu. Szkocki zespół rockowy, założony w 1995 przez Roddy'ego Woomble'a (wokal), Roda Jonesa (gitara, drugi głos), Colina Newtona (perkusja) i Phila Scanlona (bass) w Edynburgu. Skład zespołu uległ pare razy zmianie ale mimo tego przez 12 lat grupa wciąż aktywnie działa na rynku muzycznym.Muzycznie Idlewild wzorowali się na R.E.M., Nirvana, Fugazi i Weezer.
