Został nominowany do nagrody Grammy 2001 za najlepszy album współczesnego bluesa. "Sweet Tea" to w zasadzie coverowy album, w którym Buddy zagłębia się w bluesa z delty Mississippi, obejmując utwory z kilku wielkich nazwisk tego gatunku w tym cztery utwory Juniora Kimbrough. Znaczna część tego albumu to dzisiejsza muzyka bluesowa z długimi czasami meandrującymi dżemami od 12-minutowej "I Got To Try, Girl" do utworu Guy "It's A Jungle Out There", "Sweet Tea" ma wszystkie cechy klasycznego bluesowego albumu.
