Ensemble Barocum to zespół muzyki dawnej założony przez troje muzyków, którzy spotkali się na studiach w Królewskim Konserwatorium w Hadze (Holandia), gdzie kształcili się u największych autorytetów w zakresie śpiewu barokowego i gry na instrumentach z epoki. Repertuar zespołu obejmuje muzykę epoki baroku ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem francuskiej muzyki na sopran solo, zarówno sakralnej, jak i świeckiej, angielskie pieśni Henry’ego Purcella oraz utwory instrumentalne na gambę z towarzyszeniem basso continuo  i solową literaturę klawesynową. Zależnie od potrzeb skład zespołu poszerzany jest nawet do rozmiarów małej orkiestry. Na płycie "Lekcje starego przymierza" znalazły się utwory z XVII i XVIII-wiecznej Francji, z której zespół Ensemble Barocum starannie dobiera kantaty na sopran, skrzypce i basso continuo. Większość utworów tego rodzaju była osnuta wokół tematyki mitologicznej, tymczasem artyści eksplorowali ten bogaty dorobek w poszukiwaniu wątków starotestamentowych. Zabrzmią intrygująco opracowane Psalmy René Drouard de Bousseta oraz Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville’a oraz pełna frapujących retorycznych chwytów kantata Sebastiena de Brossarda, Judith ou la mort d’Holoferne opowiadająca niemal sensacyjne dzieje Judyty, która w trakcie najazdu wojsk asyryjskich na Izrael podstępnie przedostaje się do namiotu Holofernesa i ucina mu głowę, ratując w ten sposób oblężone miasto. W programie na wyróżnienie zasługuje także jedyna kobieta-kompozytor Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, pierwsza w dziejach Francji autorka opery. Zespół zagra jedną z najciekawszych kantat kompozytorki, Przejście przez Morze Czerwone. Całość dopełniają utwory instrumentalne – preludia na gambę pana Du Buisson, pochodzące z tzw. Manuskryptu Krakowskiego (poł. XVII w.) oraz sonata skrzypcowa. Wybitny kompozytor pochodzący z Niemiec Johannes Brahms, urodzony w 1833 w Hamburgu, zmarł w 1897 w Wiedniu. Artysta był równie wirtuozem pianina i dyrygentem , komponował w epoce romantyzmu. Nauki gry pobierał na początku od swojego Ojca, który był miejskim muzykantem (później kontrabasista orkiestry miejskiej w Hamburgu), następnie u F.W. Cossela i E.
