Od 17 marca 1992 roku zaczęła się wielka zmiana w życiu k.d.lang. Właśnie tego dnia ukazał się przełomowy album w karierze fantastycznej kanadyjskiej wokalistki, kompozytorki i okazjonalnej aktorki, zatytułowany c. Z okazji 25-lecia premiery wydawnictwo zostało wznowione w poszerzonej wersji. Album "Ingénue" pokrył się platyną w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz w ojczyźnie k.d.lang, a także podwójną platyną w USA. Była to pierwsza płyta artystki, na której znalazły się wyłącznie autorskie piosenki. Dwie z nich, "Constant Craving" i "Miss Chatelaine", stały się wielkimi przebojami. Pierwsza z wymienionych dała k.d. lang nagrodę Grammy w kategorii "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance". Na reedycji, którą zatytułowano "Ingénue: 25th Anniversary Edition", znalazły się dwie płyty. Wszystkie utwory na nich zostały zremasterowane. Do pierwotnej listy utworów dodano niesamowity występ kd. lang z 1993 roku w ramach cyklu "MTV Unplugged". Koncert akustyczny zarejestrowano w Nowym Jorku, w Ed Sullivan Theater. W 1992 roku magazyn "NME" wybrał "Ingénue" do grona płyt roku. Musiques à la Chabotterie record label enriches its catalog with a tenth volume: Antonio Vivaldi's 6 Concertos pour flûte with Hugo Reyne on the recorder and conducting La Simphonie du Marais' musicians. At the age of ten, Hugo Reyne was striving to reproduce by ear on his small soprano recorder Vivaldi's pieces often gleaned during commercials on the radio or television. When he was sixteen, he heard them played by the virtuoso recorder player Frans Brüggen in La Maison de la Radio during the interpretation course of this outstanding professor who is regarded as the father of modern recorder. These were arresting moments for Hugo Reyne who felt an enduring fascination for Vivaldi's music and made Frans Brüggen into his first model, some would say his mentor, at the beginning of his own musical career. "To play an instrument from the composer's period further adds to this music's charm. I truly believe we have to give back to Vivaldi the poetry he deserves, to respect what he wrote, and no longer distort his writing with useless effects." Therefore, Hugo Reyne is using for the Concerto in C minor an alto recorder made by Gahn in the 18th century, and then in turns recorders made by the most gifted makers for the successive concertos. A tribute to his teachers and to those whose recorder playing have inspired him, this album features Vivaldi concertos which have carried Hugo Reyne through his teenage years and have marked out his recorder studies, then his teaching work as well as his recorder player career. 6 Concertos pour flute adds to a series of nine previous CDs for the same label Musiques à la Chabotterie which have been acclaimed by the media (Classica Choc, Diapason Découverte, Le Monde de la Musique Choc, Goldberg 5 étoiles, Diapason 5 Diapason, Académie du disque lyrique Orphée d’Or, Pizzicato Supersonic…).

Glyndebourne Opera has a history of trend setting and pioneering opera productions and Donizetti’s opera L’elisir d’amore is no exception. Popular in Donizetti’s own lifetime, L’elisir faded into relative obscurity until the 1890s when Caruso championed the role of Nemorino: his dedication and conviction were such that Covent Garden arranged a production of the opera in 1902. L’elisir was a personal favourite of Caruso’s, so much so that in 1920 he played Nemorino in his last appearance with the Metropolitan Opera. Almost 60 years later, in 1961, it was Glyndebourne who staged a production of L’elisir d’amore designed and directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Such was the success and acclaim for this production that Glyndebourne revived it in 1962, enhancing the production with the addition of the lively and capricious Mirella Freni.As the press noted: ‘Her [Freni's] looks and her cantabile singing melt, so to speak, on the tongue, and she acts her teasing charades with Sergeant Belcore as if nothing were farther from her mind than cruelty.’ (The Times, August 1962) and ‘Mirella Freni, the sparkling new Adina, rightly allowed real tenderness to shine through vanity and caprice.’ (The Sunday Times, August 1962)Mirella Freni was first engaged by Glyndebourne in 1960 (and sings Susanna in Glyndebourne’s own recording of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro GFOCD00162).Previously she had also performed at the opera house in Torino in the late 50s and sung with Netherlands Opera in 1959-60 season, but her international break and recognition came by virtue of her role as Adina in this 1962 production.This recording, released here for the first time, precedes Freni’s EMI recording of L’elisir d’amore with Nicolai Gedda as Nemorino in a Rome Opera production by some 5 years. In this recording, Freni has a cast of equals around her. As the besotted Nemorino, Luigi Alva vividly portrays the wounded innocent with The Daily Telegraph noting in August 1962 that ‘Alva’s Nemorino is a wonderful combination of rustic clowning and exquisitely finished bel canto’, with Enzo Sordello a baritone voice big enough to fill a stadium, providing a fresh virile and bold Belcore. Conductor Carlo Felice Cillario enjoyed a 60 plus year career and is remembered for his masterful interpretations of Puccini, Verdi and Donizetti operas and stands as one of the most singer-friendly conductors of all time.The 2CD set is packaged as a hard bound book containing a full libretto translated into English, French and German along with a commissioned article about the opera, and synopsis in English, French and German.

After eight discs with the 32 numbered sonatas, and a ninth comprising the early sonatas and sonatinas, Ronald Brautigam now embarks on the second leg of his traversal of Beethoven’s complete music for solo piano. In this volume he gives us the complete Bagatelles, and includes not only the three sets published during Beethoven’s life time, but also thirteen further pieces composed throughout Beethoven’s career, between 1795 and 1825. Some of these pieces, most famously ‘Für Elise’, are sometimes referred to as Bagatelles, others simply as Klavierstücke and several of them are only known by their tempo markings. Among Beethoven’s Bagatelles – whether official or unofficial ones – are pieces that may originally have been intended as movements of piano sonatas, as well as pieces of an extreme brevity, such as the 11 seconds long Allegramente, No. 10 of Elf Neue Bagatellen, Op.119.They left many of his contemporaries perplexed – the music publisher Peters reportedly turned down the Op.119 set, with the comment that such trivia was beneath Beethoven’s dignity, and might harm his reputation if published. What few suspected at the time was that the Bagatelles were to have an immense importance to the piano literature of the 19th century, and to the genre of the character piece. Previous volumes in this cycle have been highly praised by reviewers around the world, for instance in Gramophone, whose reviewer described the performances of the Waldstein and Appassionata Sonatas as ‘stunning … technically breathtaking, stylistically astute, emotionally intense and musically alive in every moment’. Ronald Brautigam brings no less commitment to the present collection of Kleinigkeiten – as Beethoven himself called them – performing the various pieces on two different fortepianos to accord with the types of instruments that the composer would have had at his disposal when writing them.
