Jean-Philippe Rameau - jeden z najwybitniejszych francuskich kompozytorów. Autor oper i oper baletowych (m.in. "Les Indes galantes", "Castor et Pollux"). Tworzył też dzieła kameralne, taneczne, kantaty i muzykę kościelną. Les Paladins to przedostatnie dzieło w dorobku Jean-Philippe Rameau, to commedie-ballet, które swoją premierę miało wprawdzie w 1760 roku, a więc na 4 lata przed śmiercią Rameau, ale później zniknęło w mroku historii i nie przywróciło go nawet do życia nagranie płytowe zrealizowane przez Jean-Claude Malgoire'a zaledwie 14 lat temu. Dopiero teraz, fascynująca, bardzo stylowa a jednocześnie współczesna interpretacja Williama Christie przywróci z pewnością współczesnemu życiu tą błyskotliwą muzykę. Właśnie tą wersję możemy zobaczyć na prezentowanej płycie. Spektakl został nagrany w 2004 roku w Theatre du Chatelet w Paryżu.
